We will not stay again
We recently stayed here and were not pleased. The lobby was very nice but then we got to our room. They had made attempts to update but it was not done well. There was dirty dental floss under the sink and the tub had stains. We went to the pool to find while the water looked clean the deck was gross with dirt buildup almost blocking the drain. The whirlpool was hot but the jet did not work and the sign that said so was so old it was yellowed and curling. Later that evening it rained and water came into our room by the AC. When talking to the front desk about this problem I was told "I don't know what to do; my maintenance man is stuck in "???". I had to ask for another room to keep my kids safe from walking through water in our room. The next room was cleaner but the slide lock was broken and at midnight when our neighbors had been very very loud for several hours, I picked up the phone to call the front desk and it did not even work. I had to go knock on their door myself. Then in the morning our coffee maker didn't work and one of the condiment packages on the tray was already opened and half used. The final straw was when I went to checkout I was not given anything as far as an apology except an "I am sorry." We will be back to INDY but it won't be here. I could have stayed at a lot cheaper hotel and had a nicer room.
Response from Clarion Hotel & Conference Center: I'm so sorry about the recent stay at the Clarion and the disappointing experience you had. Please be assured we made many changes since last year. A new executive housekeeper implimented deep cleaning to all rooms, we have new linen, matresses and bedding. The whirlpool has been fixed, the deck scrubbed and please be assured that all phones in the rooms work. I realize all this assurance will not help the person who had the bad experience, but wanted to make sure that people looking for accomandations in Indianapolis know that the Clarion Hotel and Conference Center has clean, oversized, comfortable rooms and a staff that would love to serve them.

A dump
I don't know how this place is even open. It is near the track and I guess that is the only people who stay there. It's hard to find, the lighting is poor both inside and out, everything looks old and worn and the pool is a health hazard. Avoid this place.
Response from Clarion Hotel & Conference Center: I truly think this review is unfair, not just to the hotel but future travelers. Yes, the hotel is not a new property but 25 years old, but it is clean and the staff friendly. The hotel is conveniently located right off Highways 74 and 465 and most certainly does not cater only to the races. We have many conventions that stay here over and over again. I'm sorry the guest thought we are such a terrible place but that is certainly far from the truth.
