As a vegetarian, the Abbey has a great menu for lunch or a casual dinner and is one of the few places in Indy that have Vegan options. The problem is I hate going there because the atmosphere is awful. The restaurant is dirty, and the used mismatched furniture is not eclectic; it just makes the restaurant look run-down. The weird blue walls don't help either. The carpeted tables are also a little gross since they can't be cleaned. Service is poor and it is obvious they are always short-staffed. Many times you have to ring a bell to get someone to come out of the kitchen to take your order. As a vegetarian who lives downtown I would undoubtedly make this my new favorite place if they made an investment in upgrading the interior. Right now I'll pass.
