C-U Jazz Crusaders is a jazz, blues, funk, and Latin jazz ensemble featuring musicians from Chicago and Champaign/Urbana. The band performs music from both "The Jazz Crusaders" and "The Crusaders," which was an important jazz, blues, and funk band from the 1960s to the present day that featured Joe Sample, Wilton Felder, Stix Hooper and Wayne Henderson. This band also features great jazz and blues vocalist Darden Purcell.
