In 1907, the original mission statement of the Indianapolis Museum of Art was to "keep abreast of the most advanced methods of instruction, to give lectures, receptions, and entertainments of artistic character, and in every way possible to encourage the study and love of art among the people." Today, after 125 years of changes, challenges, and a multitude of successes, the IMA still embraces this phrase—in every way possible.
That is why on October 11, 2008, the museum will throw a black tie celebration gala with momentous announcements and special guests.
