Mass Ave puts a whole new angle on excitement, one that promises to be "45 degrees from ordinary." Known as the Arts and Theater District, Mass Ave fills with the free-spirited and friendly mood that spills from the many venues.
Five performing arts theaters, each distinctive, call Mass Ave home. Numerous art galleries make the Avenue the place to experience top-notch art. Independently-owned restaurants serve some of the best meals in town. Don't expect to find any mass production in Mass Ave's locally owned shops.

The Murat Centre, the largest theater venue on Mass Ave, hosts numerous performances throughout the year including national tours of such crowd-pleasers as "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Stomp." The theater attracts big-name musical acts like B.B. King and Moody Blues, providing entertainment for every kind of music fan.
Mass Ave also is home to the annual IndyFringe Festival, a 10-day festival showcasing local, national and international cutting-edge theater companies. Each company performs 60-minute shows in the district's theaters, as well as various outdoor performing spaces along Mass Ave.
