Rodgers | Hammerstein thoughts lharry  October 10, 2008
The well-sung but nondescript production of "The Sound of Music" currently running at Beef & Boards got me thinking about the musicals of Rodgers & Hammerstein. Some random thoughts: -The R&Hreputation pretty much rests on "Oklahoma!,"... more

Not bad for a two hour lunch. Great kids menu.
I was very surprised upon walking through the front door of Houlihan's - as they appeared to be very busy. I've been here before for lunch and they were not busy at all. After being seated by my waiter (there was no hostess) and waiting quite a while for basically anything I realized why it was so crowded. The people at the tables were trapped - waiting on food, drinks and/or a bill - just waiting. Like most people who work for a living, a two hour lunch is not an option. But that's exactly what I received on this day. Sure, I could have gotten up and left but I had already invested enough time on this lunch to abandon it. However, I'll not make that mistake again. The food was average. The prices were high. The kids menu was a great deal - though it took 20 minutes to get the menu. And, of course, the waiter asked to take our order as soon as he gave us the kids menu - giving us about 30 seconds to look it over - telling him we needed a few minutes to look over the kids menu meant we would not see him again for another 20 minutes - not an option. Having a three year old ask you, "Where's my food?" for over an hour is a nightmare. I'm surprised this place is still in business. more

Great Staff, Location and Hotel
If you are going to treat yourself to a downtown stay while in Indianapolis this hotel is great. The staff, service and rooms are 5 star. The beds in the suites were the only negative as the comforter was too heavy for the summer/fall season. The area is close to everything downtown and seems to be safe as my wife and I were out past 11 p.m. and many single females and couples were out and about enjoying life. I also recommend the horse and carriage ride around the city from the base of the monument at city center. Thank you to the staff of the Hilton Garden for making our stay special! more
